Cottage close-ups

Solitude is wonderful - but it helps to have running water, electricity, and walls that are not made of mudbrick and have to be whitewashed every year to protect them from disintegrating...

Solitude plus some level of comfort is the best case. There are stone cottages in Death Valley that are somewhat more 'comfortable' and quite secluded. I should look through my files and post one soon.

I agree! I can have solitude AND room service. And wireless internet. And minibar.
