These elephants were within spitting distance, the closest I've been, part of a herd of at least 25 - and yes, I was not entirely at my ease!
I'm confined to barracks (or should that be "sties", a friend asked) with "swine flu" so for the next few days I'll be posting shots from the archives. This one was taken last year in the Kruger National Park.

MAGNIFICENT photo! I dream of going on an African safari someday! Your wonderful pictures are as close as I get for now.

oh no! you got swined! i do hope you get well soon...^-^
This is an amazing family portrait. I envy you being so close to these gentle creatures.
it must be very excinting seeing those elephants so close!
Wow! Great shot! I like the color of African elephants, they are different from Indian elephants!
I would have been terrified! Sorry to hear you are not well. Take care of yourself!
I can see why you might be a little nervous, but I must admit, you got a spectacular photo.
That is so awesome. I grew up watching every animal documentary I could, and Africa has always fascinated me. Maybe someday I'll get over there, but there are so many other places I'd love to see as well, and there's still so much around her to see. But, yeah, I don't think I'd be entirely at ease myself, but I think I'd rather face the elephants than the swine flu. Get well soon.
I'd be biting my fingernails here!
I hope you feel better soon, and meanwhile, this is a stunning photo!
