Chasmanthus

An unwieldy name for a tough and resilient plant that grows freely in Aurora - it is taking over parts of my garden but anything that thrives here is welcome - especially if its flowers are so bright and lovely.

I think the other name for them is 'Falling Stars'. I like that better :) But I could be thinking of something else...

They are an indigenous(to SA) genus in the iris family called Chasmanthe. Go to http://www.plantzafrica.com and search under c for chasmanthe for more into. Similar to Crocosmia which are "falling stars" but not quite. Crocosmia are indigeneous to KZN and more eastern, summer rainfall areas of SA.
