Gannet Island

At Lamberts Bay, thousands of gannets crowd into a tiny space; the darker-coloured birds are fledglings . Their flight is ungainly at take-off, they need a long runway - and coming in, they have to find their mate and nest very exactly, for if they land in the territory of the wrong gannet they will be sharply repelled.
