Strawberry Scarecrows

The scarecrows in the strawberry fields between Stellenbosch and Somerset West (that's Table Mountain in the distance) are so unusual that anyone with a grain of curiosity can't resist stopping to see them - and of course to buy the fat, sweet strawberries grown there. Some of the scarecrows ride "ostriches"...
...while others are mounted on penny-farthing bicycles...

...or climb windmills.

These scarecrows look more loveable than scary - but perhaps they scare the crows.
