Early Piketberg

Old cottages in Piketberg. The mountain in the background was the vantage point for the "piquet" during the Boer War, in Victorian times. They are simple and basic and built of mud brick. And because so few remain, the demand for them is increasing.

Excellent hiking, barbara - yes there are snakes but easy to avoid them!
