Koringberg (wheat mountain)

Koringberg is 65 km from Aurora, or 50km if you use gravel roads across farms and don't mind opening gates. It is on the famous rail line from Sishen to Saldanha, that now carries incredible quantities of iron ore, but once upon a time collected wheat from the big silos there - the light on the silos changes throughout the day...

This is a predominantly farming area with wheat, potatoes and grapes as the main crops, and sheep and ostrich farming also strong in the area. I can't help comparing the NZ sheep on their lush green pastures with ours...
