Jean Pierre fetched me from the airport. Travelling time NZ to Sydney, 3 hours, Sydney to Johannesburg 14 hours, Jo'burg to Cape Town 2 hours. Plus airport stops totalling 7 hours and travel time by car either end (a total of 29 hours, pillow to pillow) - yet I left Auckland Monday morning and reached Cape Town in the evening of the same day... Hard to accept, physically. You keep doing calculations in your head and don't know when to adjust your watch. So picking apples was nice and down to earth in contrast.
