Back at the river

There is an attraction about the river and the birds there that I find it hard to resist, so when I had to go to Velddrif for another meeting I gravitated there as usual. The flamingoes left the salt pans next to the river's tidal estuary a while back; when they are here, they make a wonderfully colourful display. In these pics there are mainly Hartlaub's Gulls and a couple of Kelp Gulls.

The cold front moving in is obvious from the clouds and the gusts making the water surface dark beyond the boat. It will be cold in Aurora tonight. I shall go to bed early with a good book.
