Heaven

At the confluence of two rivers that form a tidal estuary, (the main one is the Kaaimans River)- a spit of land rises a sheer 15 or 20 metres from the water, and on this a family built their holiday home (the house position is marked with a small yellow dot in the RH top cprner of the picture.) Those who have travelled the mountainside pass between George and Knysna will probably recall the houses along this bank of the river. There is no road access, so one swims the river to get there. I spent an idyllic week there recently, courtesy of the family. No electricity, water from a rainwater tank - just the bare minimum, basic but the wilderness garden is lush and orchids peep out all over - and it is truly heavenly
